• Peas have vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin K, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, iron, zinc and lutein. 

• Modern culinary use: Peas  are  usually boiled or steamed (Middle East, North Africa, Europe-Middle Ages). Green Peas  became very popular in France (XVII, XVIII). 

• G.Mendel  observed pea pods. These observations  led to principles of Mendelian   Genetics.

• The annual 'Peasenhall Pea Festival' in the English village of Peasenhall, Suffolk.
